A New Model for Sustainable Energy

Optional Energy Partners, Inc. is in the business of making renewable fuels from what has always been thought of as a nuisance.  You need energy and there are options:  Bio-Mass, Wind, Solar, Geo-Thermal and sources yet to be discovered.  Partner with us to create a sustainable energy for sustainable communities!

Have you ever toured a sewage treatment plant or a large animal feeding operation?  If you have, chances are you've experienced the unique odor created by sewage and manure.

The fact is, the odor isn't the only problem.  Sewage and manure are loaded with organic chemicals, nitrates and phosphates.  If these chemical get into our ground water, it ends up being polluted.  Most small municipal plants take care of some of the problem but there is much more that can be done.

The final phases of this cleaning effort are relatively easy and inexpensive.  The best part is that you end up with usable products that can provide energy.

Methane:  The organics in sewage can feed methane producing bacteria.  This process results in methane gas which can be burned as a fuel.  This fuel can be used to drive electrical generators that can supplement a community's electricity needs. Many wastewater treatment plants already generate methane but have not used it to generate electricity.

Biodiesel:  The other products from the methane production are carbon dioxide and a liquid effluent that contains ammoniates and phosphates; the raw materials needed to promote algae growth in lakes and ponds across the US.  Using the right technology, we can grow massive quantities of algae.  These algae usually have anywhere from 25% to 50% of their biomass as lipids.  The lipids can be be separated from the solids and made into a fairly high quality biodiesel and the carbohydrates can easily be fermented into ethanol.

Other Nutrients:  The remaining solids are made up of complex carbohydrates and proteins, commonly called algae "Flour".  This algae flour is a valuable nutrient that can be added to animal feed.

Thus the circle is complete!

We can make a difference; not just in our own backyards but around the world.  Join us in our quest for energy independence, a cleaner environment, a better quality of life, and a greater prosperity for everyone.
